Betty gives Bob a figurine, in white, of a knight on horseback. Bob and Betty are performers, and during rehearsals for a Christmas Eve show in Vermont, they develop romantic feelings for each other. After Betty implies that Bob is her knight in shining armor, he tells her that it can be difficult for a knight to remain seated on his horse. As the result of a misunderstanding caused by Betty's reliance on unsubstantiated gossip, she decides that Bob is not the man she thought he was and consequently, that he is not the man for her. Confused as to Betty's abrupt change toward him, Bob asks her what he can do to get the knight back on his horse, but she just kind of shrugs and politely smiles. After Betty leaves the show and returns to NYC, she discovers the truth and realizes that Bob is indeed a good man and consequently, is the man for her. To reconcile, Betty rejoins the show in Vermont, surprising Bob. During the finale, when they sing "White Christmas," Betty presents Bob with her gift of a white knight firmly atop his steed. As Bob is delighted with his gift, he and Betty affectionately embrace and then proceed to live happily ever after. Bob's partner and Betty's sister have also fallen in love, and during the finale, they follow suit.
