just purchasedmine and am getting 18 hauling 5K pounds and 21 mpg highway unloaded, both in windy weather. guartanteed to get better once i get 3k-4k mi on it :)
diesel suburban Its not new though. diesel is the only way a fullsize SUV will get over 20 mpg.
No. A Powerstroke, or any diesel engine in that case does not have an aluminum block. Diesel engines are made heavier duty to handle all the power and heat they create. All diesel engine blocks use a cast steel block. The new Ford 6.7L Powerstroke uses a new metal called Compact Graphite Steel which is much lighter and stronger that cast steel.
The 6.4L Powerstroke diesel produced form '08 to '10 has 350 horsepower and 650 pound feet of torque. The all-new 2011 6.7L Powerstroke diesel puts out 390 horsepower and 735 pound feet of torque. It improved by 40 horsepower and 85 pound feet of torque.
The '08 to '10 6.4L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V8s had 350 horsepower and 650 pound foot of torque. The all-new 2011 Ford built Powerstroke diesel has 390 horsepower and 735 pound foot of torque. This is a 6.7L single turbo engine.
Most people say that Cummins is the best diesel engine but not with the new 6.7L offered in Dodge Ram trucks. The Ford Powerstroke Diesels put out more power than the Cummins by 40 horsepower and 85 pound feet of torque. Also, the new 6.7L Cummins engine has been known to overheat, stall, and the turbos are blowing in them at around 30,000 to 40,000 miles. The Cummins can't idle for more than 6 minutes or it will overheat and shut off and you must take it to the dealer to get the problem fixed. Let's compare. 6.4L Powerstroke diesel does not overheat, does not stall, but there ARE turbo problems with them. But that is no problem with the new 2011 6.7L Powerstroke diesel. As for Duramax, they've always been behind in quality but not power. So I'd say, here in 2010, that Powerstroke is the BEST diesel engine available in a pickup truck.
No its a 6.4 Powerstroke they haven't put a 7.3 in ford in about 10 years
Powerstroke make a great diesel engine for an affordable price. For quotes on prices, and more information on the product, they can be contacted online or by phone.
10 mile/gal We have a new 2011 F-250 diesel and it gets around 16 mpg avg, and around 19 mpg on highway.
MY 1981 1600 diesel 5 speed has done 54 mpg, most always 50 plus all around driving. Rebuilt head, engine bored .020 with new pistons.
There all different it depends on how you take care of it was it maintain the right way or not I have seen diesel engines with over 350,000 miles on them still running like new so it's hard to answer your question We had a powerstroke 7.3L diesel with 425K on the original internals. They replaced it with a 6.0 powerstroke and it dropped a valve at 40K. So you never know.
the new diesels have great emissions, and get double the mpg, the old diesels have poor emissions though.
So far, the 7.3L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V8. But the old 7.3L PSD is running a tight race with the 05 to 07 6.0L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V8s. They have been proven to be reliable. The only bad 6.0L PSDs were the 03.5 and 04s. Every Ford diesel made has had some good reliability. If you get an upgraded turbo on the 6.4L and a DPF Delete Kit you are good to go for a high mileage diesel. The 6.9L IDI Ford/International diesel was a great engine. Also, the 7.3L IDI Ford/International diesel engine. The 6.9L IDI and 7.3L IDI didn't have a turbo OR great power, but they were great engines. I am liking the new 2011 6.7L Powerstroke Turbo Diesel V8 that is in the new Super Duty trucks. It seems like it will be a very reliable and long-lasting high-mileage engine. There really isn't a "best" Ford diesel now days, but the early 6.0Ls and the 6.4Ls are definetly the pieces of sh*t in this round!
