No to both. New Brunswick is fully connected to Quebec and Maine on two sides; Nova Scotia is a peninsula with a narrow land connection to New Brunswick.
The Acadians are the residents of New France, which is now known as the maritime provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I. They also inhibited parts of Quebec and Maine. They are the descendants of the French colonists of the 17th Century.
When the French made an attempt to colonize North America, they were mainly concerned with the uppermost northern region of the continent(current-day Canada). Their main station was Quebec, and later Port Royal in Nova Scotia. It was from this port in Nova Scotia, with its close proximity to Maine and the rest of the New England colonies that they were able to harass the English so incessantly. Later on, through expeditions south of Quebec(into modern day USA), but still to the West of the English colonies, they established several small trading posts along the Mississippi And Ohio Rivers. Their main concern was the fur trade with the natives. Once at the end of the Mississippi, starting to encroach on Spanish Florida, the French established New Orleans/Louisiana as a colony. This colony was relatively short-lived however, as it was soon given to Spain after the signing of the Peace of Paris 1763- a direct result one might say of the colonial English taking Quebec, effectively ending the French domain in modern-day United States.
