In astronomy there is a wide range of equipment that can be used. Some of them are telescopes, binoculars and laser pointers. Equipments also need not be necessarily used. Being an astronomer myself, naked eye observation is my favourite type of observation. Equipments are mainly used to ether view the skies above closer such as in a telescope or to detect something that cannot be seen in the naked eye or a telescope such as in radio astronomy equipment.
They collect [vast quantities] of raw data that scientists, from many disciplines, operate upon to produce information and discoveries.
To become an astronomer, you typically study physics, mathematics, and astronomy at a college or university. Advanced degrees such as a master's or Ph.D. in astronomy may also be necessary for research positions. Additionally, gaining practical experience through internships or working with telescopes can be valuable.
William Herschel's interest in astronomy led him to begin looking at the planets and stars through his own self-built telescopes in May of 1773. He continued his study and research for 49 years until his death on 25 August 1822.
