I think the best name to give it would be the technological era- this began to develop at the end of the 18th Century and has blossomed and grown to be what it has become in the present day. Not that there were not technological advances BEFORE this, but the past 225 years or so has seen a steady and consistent increase in technical advance across ALL aspects of life.
