All major Western European countries ( discounting the United Kingdom which still uses the classic Pound Sterling) employ the Euro as medium of exchange. Prior to the Euro conference- the Belgians used, I believe Francs as part of the country ( such as Nieuport) is French-speaking. the famous if no longer living ( Singing Nun) hailed from Francophone Belgium. The song (Dominique) is not strictly speaking a French song but a Belgian song in the French tongue. actually, it appears to be about a vagabond man akin to the ( King of the Road)- on the Road, on the Bum, In Song! which is a free translation of Routier, Pauvrais, Chantant! sort of happy-go-lucky vagrant.
