The first TV communications satellite launched in 1965 was called Early Bird, also known as Intelsat I. It was launched by NASA for the International Telecommunications Satellite Organization (Intelsat) and provided the first live television broadcasts between the United States and Europe.
In 1965, NASA launched the Gemini program, focused on developing space travel techniques required for Apollo moon missions. Gemini 4 marked the first American spacewalk by astronaut Ed White. The Soviet Union launched Voskhod 2, carrying the first human to conduct a spacewalk, Alexei Leonov. It was also the year of the first commercial communications satellite, Early Bird, launched by NASA.
France was the third country to launch an artificial satellite named "Asterix" in 1965. This made France the third country to have successfully launched an artificial satellite into orbit after the Soviet Union and the United States.
France was the third country to build and launch both its own satellite and rocket into space (Diamant rocket, Astérix satellite, November 26, 1965). The United Kingdom was the third country to have a satellite launched into space (Ariel, April 26th, 1962), but this satellite was built and launched by the United States. Canada was the third country to build its own satellite, but it was launched by the United State (Alouette 1 sept 29 1962).
Mariner 9 was launched successfully on May 30, 1971. This made it the first artificial satellite of Mars when it arrived and went into orbit.

The first satellite sent to Mars was called Mariner 4. It was launched by NASA in 1964 and successfully conducted a flyby of the planet in 1965, sending back the first close-up images of Mars' surface.
Gemini 6 was launched on December 15, 1965, and Gemini 7 was launched on December 4, 1965. Gemini 6 famously performed a rendezvous with Gemini 7 in space.
