The chromosomes are only X shaped during the early prophase stage in mitosis (nuclear division). Otherwise, the chromosomes are in their chromatin form in which they are unwound and seem like a bunch of tangled thread.

The "horn of Africa" got its name form the horn-shaped figure at the east of Africa. The east coast of Africa is shaped like a horned animal, like a rhino.
Nucleoplasm can also be called karyoplasm or nucleus sap. It is a type of protoplasm contained entirely inside the cell nucleus.

There is a musical instrument called a triangle, it is both shaped, and named, the same as the three-sided figure itself.
It literally translates to something like "little nucleus". So at first glance, looking similar to a nucleus(only much smaller and found inside of the nucleus), the name seemed fitting.
