This is a good question.
When we say "Qur'an" or "Al Qur'an", we actually are not referring to the book that is bound between two covers. "The Qur'an" is only the recited book. If we want to talk about the actual binding, that we hold in our hands as a physical book, then the proper term to use is "Mushaf" (pronounced mouss - haff, with the letter 'HAA' that is not the soft one, but the one from the back of the throat). The word "mushaf" literally means "made into pages". The plural of this word, "mushaf" is "masaahif".
First of all, the words are not Muhammad's (PBUH) they are ALLAH's (God's) words and the name of the book is "The Holy Quran"more info could be found here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quran
That would be the Koran or Quran.
