Our answers aren't mere links. Although I am sure that there are a few questions that simply refer to a link for a better answer, that is definitely not the ideal for the site. You might be running into unanswered questions... and the reason that there are so many links associated with those questions is that we hope one of those links will give you an answer when no one in the community has gotten to your question yet. In general, we highly value original and complete answers for questions, and discourage only answering a question with only a link to someplace else.
I have loads of time to answer questions. I'm a widower and retired. I like using my computer (running Ubuntu!). I believe having to research some of the answers I give, helps to keep my brain functioning.
