There are two. One near the top of the exhaust manifold and one on the exhaust pipe trailing from the manifold.
The Main Voltage regulator it built into the Alternator There is also one on the instrument panel to stabilise the voltage to the gauges
Behind the engine, under neath the intake manifold.
The voltage regulator is built into the alternator. I found this out when I was given an alt with a bad VR and was pushing 19v instead of 12.
In a 2002 Mazda Protege, the throttle body is located on the intake manifold, directly connected to the engine's air intake system. It's situated near the top of the engine, typically on the side where the air intake hose connects. To access it, you may need to remove the air intake duct and other components for better visibility and reach.
It should be underneath the throttle body on the back of the intake manifold
