Breton is the language spoken in Brittany (or more exactly was, since it is quite rare to hear it nowadays). Some local schools still teach a version of Breton based on the dialect formerly spoken in the area of Rennes (there were six main dialects in the past, and people from one part of Brittany had sheer difficulty to underestand any of the other five dialects)

Where and who were the Celts? From around 750 BC to 12 BC, the Celts were the most powerful people in central and northern Europe. There were many groups (tribes) of Celts, speaking a vaguely common language. The word Celt comes from the Greek word, Keltoi, which means barbarians and is properly pronounced as "Kelt".In the modern day Celts don't really exist though some Welsh, Scottish, Irish and people for Brittany France still consider themselves Celts.Welsh is the only Celtic windy spoken though there are still some people that still speak Irish and Scottish Gaelic which are also Celtic languages.

Why did France decide to speak french?

France did not decide to speak French. Countries do not decide what language to speak; languages develop. The people of ancient Gaul spoke various languages, mostly celtic; then they became part of the Roman Empire and learned Latin; then they were invaded by the Francks, who spoke their own Germanic dialect. Finally, the mixture of Latin and Frankish produced French (with some influence from the more Italianate dialect of the south).
