Well actually there is a couple Lighthouses in York Maine. I live here and one of them is the Nubble Lighthouse and Its up a mile long toad between Long Sands beach and Short Sands Beach in York, Maine. Also another is called Boon Island which is out at sea and you can see it from Long Sands beach if you look straight out at the water. - A York Middle School Student
Boon Island is a barren piece of land located in the Gulf of Maine 6 miles (10 km) off the town of York on the Maine coast. The island is the site of Boon Island Light, the tallest lighthouse in New England. Boon Island Light is not open to the public. The only way to view the tower is by boat or aircraft.The Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse offer occasional narrated cruises that pass by the lighthouse. The Isle of Shoals Steamship Company makes periodic cruises to the lighthouse. The yellowpages lists 41 charter services in the area.Take Rte 1 south 42 miles to York Beach. Head east to the water.
