I am pretty sure you are thinking of melanin. Melanin gives basically everything on our body colour including our hair, skin, iris etc.
It separates out as pale yellow.
skin.melanin is the pigment for skin colour and keratin gives elasticity to the skin. keratin is also in hair and fingernail...it is in basicaly every part of your body because it is mainly protein.
