Well, Septimus Heap is actually the name of a series, and since you didn't know this, I'm gonna guess you're referring to Magyk (the first book). In chapter three the author describes the house in which the Heap's reside (she describes it how the house is exactly ten years since Silas found the bundled baby).She then talks of the Supreme Custodian who is informed that the Queenling (Princess) has been found. The Supreme Custodian then informs the assassin to kill the Princess and the family with which she lives with. Next the book talks about a ghost by the name of Alther Mella, and about his history with a Necromancer named DomDaniel. It also mentions the ExtraOrdinary Wizard Marcia who has looked out for the Queenling (Jenna Heap). Alther tries to follow and spy on the people plotting against Jenna, but since he never went into the location of their meeting while alive, he is unable to visit it while a ghost, and doesn't know what is being plotted. Allter then informs Marcia of a pressing issue. That's all that happens.
