There was "Trilogy of Terror" from around that time period but it was in color. It was one of three stories, I never can remember the other two but the doll has imbedded itself in my brain forever! Karen Black was in the starring role in that story. If you are talking about the same story: The doll had a chain she removed and unleashed its power. She tried to kill it several different ways without any luck. One of the ways was putting it in the bathtub in a suitcase and attempting to drown it. I won't reveal the ending, though for those who haven't seen it or haven't seen it in a while. It pops up from time to time on DirectTV on one of the the Starz channels. If there was a black & white story like that there could have been one from The Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits or Night Gallery. But I know for sure that "Trilogy of Terror" came out in the '70's. I had to sneak in to watch it because my parents thought it would be too scary. But I managed to watch it anyway and they were right. It was too scary and I don't even like to think about it too much even now!!!!
I remember the movies, I think it was even eariler from the 70s. If I remember correctly the movie was simply titled "The Car"
Will wasn't being 'chased' so much as that he was distracting the giant alien cockroach into turning and ccming towards him. Smith needed to stop it from climbing up the tower, getting into the flying saucer & quickly flying away. This took place in the old World's Fair grounds in Queens. Smith was distracting the "bug" because his MEN IN BLACK partner, Tommy Lee Jones, had just told Will to "keep the bug on the ground" (i.e. NOT LEAVE) before Jones proceeded to "leave" by gettting the "bug" to swallow him -- so that Tommy Lee could retrieve his gun. So, to answer your question: This took place near the end of the movie. Just before Tommy Lee Jones used the "flashy-thing" to erase his own memory of being a MEN IN BLACK agent.
You're thinking of North By Northwest, and the actor is Cary Grant, not Jimmy Stewart, who is being chased by the crop duster plane mid-way through the movie.
