Dave went into foster care because his drunk and abusive mother, Catherine Pelzer, abused Dave. Dave's teachers stood up and went to the police when they got enough information to figure out that Dave was being abused.
Dave Pelzer got the education he needed when he was in school, but when he got out of his mother's torture home, he was put into foster care, where he received his correct level of education, for his mother held him back twice for no reason at all... By the time Dave turned 18, he didn't attend a college, but joined the air force... He is really an amazing man... nuff sed.!!!

Dave Pelzer was placed in multiple foster homes throughout his childhood due to the abuse he suffered from his mother. Some of the foster homes he was placed in include the Daly City, San Francisco, and South San Francisco foster homes. Each home provided a different environment for Dave, some more supportive and nurturing than others.
