The Moon was first available on that site's Earth feature in July of 2009. The site chose to release that feature in honor of the fortieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 situation.
The area of the moon where man first landed is called the "Sea of Tranquility," or "Mare Tranquillitatis" in Latin. It is located in the northern hemisphere of the moon and was the site of the Apollo 11 mission's historic lunar landing on July 20, 1969.

Just one that I know of: Charlie Duke, from Apollo 16. Jim Lovell from Apollo 13 is left handed, and he was supposed to walk on the moon, but of course that mission was aborted. I read on a 'left handed site' somewhere that 4 of the 12 men who actually walked on the Moon were left handed.
