Professor Stephen Hawking is probably the most famous disabled scientist having contributed significantly to black hole theory; he suffers from symptoms matching those of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) which keeps him confined to a wheelchair.
Stephen Hawking is an English theoretical physicist and and cosmologist. He has amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ASL, also known as "Lou Gehrig's Disease." Stephen Hawking can no longer speak and relies on a voice synthesizer to "talk" for him.
It was Hot Summer Day Stephen Haking was outside playing with himself then suddenly a bus chrashed through his house and hit him square in the ball he got back up only realisng that he could walk then his wife was so mad at him she threw a toaster at his face so he couldn't talk. The End
He is not paralyzed, he suffers from ALS (or, in American colloquialisms: Lou Gerig's Disease). The computer system attached to his wheelchair is operated by Hawking via an infra-red 'blink switch' clipped onto his glasses. By scrunching his right cheek up, he is able to talk, compose speeches and research papers, browse the World Wide Web, and write e-mails. The system also uses radio transmission to provide control over doors in his home and office.

Not necessarily. He uses a computer software that helps him speak, as he had pneumonia and had to have a surgery, so he wouldn't be able to talk normal again. He could say many words, but it takes him a long time to say anything, because he controls the software with his cheeks.
