In 30+ years of historical study, I have never heard it called anything else except Hannibal's crossing of the Alps. The Romans believed that these mountains were an impassable barrier to protect them from a Carthaginian invasion by land. Hannibal's challenge was to get his army over the mountains, alive and intact, and with enough strength left to fight, and that is what he did. Perhaps there is another name for it which I am unfamiliar with.
