In those tail lights there is a circuit board. If it goes bad it will cause all kinds of problems.
Check ALL fuses. If you want to take the fuse for the lights out, just start pulling fuses until it goes out. There may be more than just those lights on that fuse.
I had the same problem with my Jeep Wrangler. My tail lights were also not working. Turns out the same fuse controls both (at least in my vehicle) and when the tail lights go out, the dimmer goes out so you know there's a problem. Check your fuse.
Have an electrician check the wiring that goes to the brake lights in the trunk of the car.

Substitute a test light for the fuse and remove each socket and bulb until test ligh goes out that will tell you which area is shorted to ground Then you can replace socket, wiring, etc in that area only

No. 2004 and lower has a different tail light design. Therefore the bumper cover has the same design. The 2002-2004 have the little loops on the bottom of the tail lights. So the bumper has cut outs for those loops. 2005 and 2006 dont have loops. The tail lights are plain but stick out a little. Same goes for the headlights.
