Chimpanzees live in a wide variety of habitats, including tropical rain forests (in the primary forest and in forest edges and small clearings), woodlands, and swamp forests in Africa, from Ivory Coast in the West to western Tanzania in the east. Common chimps live north of the Congo River across that range whereas bonobos live only in the Democratic Republic of the Congo south of the Congo River.
Each evening, chimpanzees construct a fresh "sleeping nest" in the trees where they will curl up and sleep. These bowl-shaped nests are made out of leaves and other plant material. Nests are only shared by a mother and her nursing offspring.
The natural habitat of a chipmunk is a climate that has four seasons, such as the northeastern part of the United States. Chipmunks spend very little time in trees, preferring the ground to forage for food and to make holes for their homes.
