there are no border states in Indiana

but Indiana borders on the states of Ohio Kentucky Illinois & Michigan

& of these

Kentucky was considered a border state during the civil war because it was a slave state on the border between the north & the south

& Michigan is considered a border state today not because it borders on Indiana

which indeed it does

but rather because it borders on Canada
