Cats are carnivores so their diet should consist primarily of meat. Most good commercial cat foods contain these ingredients. Do not give a cat cow's milk. It can give them diarrhea. It can also make them puke.

Cats, no matter on the length of their fur, colour, age or gender, are strict carnivores, so get all their nutrients from meat which are high in Protein and Fat, and cats use these two nutrients as their primary source of energy. A domestic cat's diet should consist predominantly of meat. Good cat food brands have a good named meat source (labeled as Chicken, Turkey, Rabbit, Lamb, Tuna, etc.) as the first, or first three, ingredients on the list.

Is salmon oil okay for cats?

I do not know why people think that cats should be fed (like) fish - apart from the fishing cat (that lives in the Amazon), cats would not naturally eat fish. However, this said a little fish in a domestic cats diet will not hurt the cat and a little salmon oil will be OK too. The key word is A LITTLE!.

Is vanilla bad for cats?

Vanilla is not toxic to cats and it will not harm them if they eat something with vanilla in it. They really do not need vanilla in their diet so there is no reason to feed it to them in their regular diet.

What do sphynx cats eat?

Sphynx cats have the same diet as all other cats. A good meat based diet is preferred. If the cat is under 1 years of age then a good kitten food is recommended. Sphynx cats tend to eat a little more then the average though, as they have higher metabolisms to keep warm.

Are cats related to weasels?

Domestic cats are in fact related to Cheetahs, Lions and Jaguars, but only distantly. Domestic cats and these bigger cat species are in different subfamily, but still fall under the Family Felidae. Domestic cats are in the subfamily (or Genus) Felinae, whereas big cats (Lions, Tigers, Leopards and Jaguars) fall under the subfamily Pantherinae. The Cheetah belongs in the Genus Acinonyx and is the only living species. However, all cats have most of the same instincts although the other animals in the cat family are much larger.Domestic house cats have the type of diet and digestive system as its wild counterparts; sadly, most people feed their cats hard or soft cat food, which most is species inappropriate. Most foods contain too little meat and too many plants to truly benefit a cat. Some outdoor cats do hunt their prey (Mice, Birds) in the same ways as all others of the cat family. All cats get their liquid from their food.

What does a tortoiseshell calico like to eat?

Hi there...like any other domestic cat they require a diet rich in animal protein and taurine. Even pedigree cats require the same dietary needs as a calico cat. Exotic cats however require a diet which is more suitable for their order of carnivora species. Hi there...like any other domestic cat they require a diet rich in animal protein and taurine. What are the differences between wild cats and domestic cats?

There really aren't many differences. The overall body shape is the same, their diets are the same, and a domestic cat will eat and hunt food in much the same manner as a wild one. There are some differences, though. The main difference is that wild cats cannot be domesticated, whereas domestic cats have evolved and adapted to live alongside humans. Wild cats vary wildly in size, from smaller than a domestic cat to many times bigger, whereas domestic cats are mostly similar in size. Some coat patterns found on a domestic cat are never found in the wild, such as coloured points found on a Siamese cat. Big cats, such as lions, tigers and leopards, can roar but cannot purr, but smaller species of wild cat can indeed purr just like our domestic cats.

Can cats eat cheeseburgers?

Yes. Domestic cats have very sensitive digestive systems. You should feed your a cat a regular healthy diet from a reputable source - Iams, Science Diet, Purina (I don't like Purina but it's better than a cheese burger), etc. They also require a fresh water source. Too much cheese or raw hamburger can kill a domestic cat.

How many different biscuits are there?

Many domestic cats of all breeds eat biscuits - solely because this is what their owners feed them. There is no "type" of cat that has a different diet; all cats, wild and domestic, are strict carnivores, so need plenty of meat in their diet. Dry food is more a convenience food for us owners, as it is easy to put in a bowl and leave for several hours. However, dry food is certainly not a requirement for a cat's diet, due to the high levels of grain that are often put into biscuits instead of using meat.
