My 97 holds about 9 psi oil pressure at idle. when warmed up.
At idle, 20 - 30 psi is adequate, 35 or so is very good.

The idle speed depends on the year model. The GTs from 1993 to 1995 should have idles speed between 650 and 800rpm. I believe the 1996 and 1997 models had a slightly different idle speed, but either way 1500 sounds too much. You can adjust idle speed on your car of course.
according to my pressure gauge on a 99 gst at idle about 50 and 3200 about 75psi
The idle is automatic. If the speed is not corect then you have to fix the problem with the idle motor.
Normal is 20-30 psi at idle. 40-60 at 3000 rpm. Minimum at idle is 10psiNormal is 20-30 psi at idle. 40-60 at 3000 rpm. Minimum at idle is 10psi
The cause of your 97 Galant idling fast and then slow is a high idle system, either electrical or mechanical. Basically works like this: when the car is cold, usually in the morning, the system will cause the idle to be higher than normal to help heat the engine to normal operating temperature. Once that temperature is reached it will then kick down to a slower idle. Both idle speeds are preset by the factory. This is common on all vehicles, not just the Galant.
art the Honda Odyssey, and move it to a level surface. ... Warm the vehicle to a normal operating temperature by allowing the engine to idle
A vacuum leak could do that. If the check engine light is or has been on, have the vehicle scanned for codes.
Normal is 30 at idle. 50+ at 3000 rpm. Minimum is 12 at idle.
Idle is computer controlled, there is no adjustment screw.
