All the holes covered = lower C. Second from top covered and back hole covered all others open = top C.
a "C" note on recorder is when you cover the second front hole with your middle finger and lift the pointer finger off the first hole, and also cover the back hole with your thumb.

the highest note you can play on a soprano recorder is high b. this is a freakishly high note so be careful not to blow into your recorder really hard while playing this note because you'll pop your Eardrums!
