Each country has a different number of cabinet officials.
The Cabinet.
The term "Kitchen Cabinet" is what the critics of President Andrew Jackson used to describe his informal advisers. They felt Jackson relied more on these advisers than he did his official cabinet.
In the US, senators and other elected officials have to resign (give up their offices) to serve as Cabinet officials under the President. This is because the executive branch is not derived from the legislative branch as in parliamentary democracies (i.e. Prime Minister and cabinet). Many secretaries have been former senators, such as Hillary Clinton and John Kerry.
The people are known as the president's cabinet and they are the cabinet secretaries .
The Cabinet
The Secretary of State is generally considered to be the top ranking cabinet member.
The United States Cabinet consists of 15 executive departments, each headed by a Cabinet member, typically known as a Secretary. In addition to these department heads, the Cabinet includes the Vice President and other key officials who may be designated by the President. Therefore, the total number of Cabinet members can vary, but it generally includes at least 16 individuals.
The president has the power to nominate or appoint judges, ambassadors, cabinet members and other high ranking officials., subject to approval or confirmation by the US Senate.
The Senate
In the context of "the government's cabinet of ministers," the word "cabinet" functions as a noun. It refers to a group of advisors or officials who assist a leader, typically in a governmental setting.
