The black-headed Gull is the official bird of Tokyo, largest city and capital of the Japanese archipelago.

Specifically, the Japanese name for the bird is "yurikamome." The Latin name is Chroicocephalus ridibundus. The bird is a ground nester of marshes and of islands in lakes. But whatever the habitat, black-headed gulls will eat carrion and food scraps if they cannot find their preferred diet of fish, insects, invertebrates and seeds.
