∙ 14y agoOur Shih-tzu, "Ladybug", turned 20 years old in January, 2010. She is AKC registered, so it's documented. Blind, and her back is a bit fused, but she still gets around and expects to be worshipped like a dowager princess.
We are not sure if this is a current record, but it's got to be close.

∙ 12y agoThe Shih Tzu is an ancient royal dog. This breed is a native of Tibet and the word Shih Tzu means "Lion Dog" in Chinese. In ancient times this breed was very popular in Chinese royalty. It reached in the United States during 1950's and recognized by the AKC in 1969.
