The oldest Engineering school still in use is French.

Following the creation of the Corps of Bridges and Roads in 1716, the King's Council decided in 1747 to found an Engineering School, the "École royale des ponts et chaussées" to train the state's Engineers.

Note it has been the first time ever the term "Engineer" was used.

In 1775, the school took its current name as École nationale des ponts et chaussées (ENPC). ENPC still trains more than 1100 Engineers each year in Paris.

In the US, while some of the oldest Universities have engineering departments, those departments were founded later than some of the schools listed below.

West Point says they are the oldest engineering school in the country (1802).

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute says it's "the oldest technological university in the English-speaking world". (1824)

MIT was founded in 1861.

Stevens Institute of Technology states they are the "fourth-oldest technological university in the United States." (1870)

Georgia Institute of Technology was found in 1885.
