Canberra is the only one I can think of However The ACT is a teritory not a state. Perth is the only State capital that's NOT named after a person.
South Australia (S.A.) is a state center south of Australia. The South Eastern States are Tasmania (TAS) and Victoria (VIC). The Only state that is on the West is Western Australia.

Maybe you are thinking of Chile, a South American nation which is majorily thin, yet long. However, it does not account for more than half of the Western Coastline of the Americas, only of South America.
The Tasmania State is the only Australian state completely surrounded by water. It is an island located at the South-East end of the Australia mainland.
There is only one state in the western half of the Australian continent, and that is Western Australia. Western Australia is, for the most part, a flat state. There are some mountains in the far southwest, and also the fascinating features of the Kimberly Ranges and the Bungle Bungles in the northwest. As well, WA has the world's largest monolith - larger than Uluru - named Mt Augustus. But on the whole, Western Australia would not be called a mountainous state. The more mountainous states are in the east.

With the exception of Wales, all the countries making up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland have two coastlines. England, Scotland and Northern Ireland all have eastern and western coastlines, England also has a southern coastline and Scotland also has a northern coastline. Wales has a western coastline.
