It is called the breastbone, or sternum.
The heart is a muscular organ located slightly to left side of and behind the breastbone. It is the size of a fist.

The clavicle (collar bone) and the sternum (breast bone) both belong in the skeletal system.
The heart is located next to the thymus. The thymus gland is situated in the chest, in front of the heart, behind the breastbone.
The lower bones of the breastbone are called the xiphoid process. It is the smallest and most inferior part of the sternum, which is located at the base of the breastbone. The xiphoid process is typically made of cartilage in early life but can ossify into bone with age. It serves as an important attachment point for various muscles and ligaments.
Its usually called a tissue or organ in anatomy, other than that its probably referred to as a group of cells :)
