What is the orgin of name for aluminum?

From the Latin alumen ( which is a whitish mineral salt used as a dye). British chemist sir Humphrey Davy first called it alumium then changed it to aluminum. British editors in 1812 preferred to use aluminium as it harmonised with potassium, sodium etc.
