Venus was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. After the Moon, Venus is the brightest natural object in the night sky. It is sometimes called Earth's "sister planet", because of the similar size, gravity, and bulk composition. Venus is believed to have previously had Earth-like oceans, but these evaporated as the temperature rose. Venus is the second planet from the Sun, orbiting it every 224.7 Earth days. Venus' length of day is 243 Earth days. A temperature high is 900 degrees Fahrenheit. Hope that helped.

The origin of Venus is unclear. Most scientists (99%) believe Venus formed at the beginning of the Solar System like other planets, a very few believe it captured.

The problem of Venus is it has an almost perfectly circular orbit, which no other planet has, and yet it rotates BACKWARDS once a year compared to all the other planets and the Sun! It is a puzzle.

If Venus started with the Solar System then collided with some other object which changed Venus' rotation, it would have been knocked into a less circular orbit - and the pieces would have made a moon, like Earth's. If Venus came from elsewhere, then it would have a eccentric orbit as well. It is a puzzle.
