My maiden surname is "Peru". My family history shows I am of Native Americian origin from the Seneca Indian tribe around Buffalo, NY.
Apparently, from my father's side, we are descendants of the Seneca Chief, Red Jacket.
I am told the name was mispelled on an important document "spelled as (Peru) but the pronunciation was different", and came from that lol... I am only going on what my family has done research on...
