The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump assembly, located in the gas tank. The whole assembly must be replaced together. You may remove and clean the entire assembly, but the pumps seem to have a life of about 120k miles.
You may have to pop out the entire light/mirror assembly with a screw driver and replace the bulb from the back. Be careful not to break the assembly.

the two tabs are located on the bottom left and bottom right sides of the assembly. you should be able to pop it out with a screw driver. be gentle!
The assemby is available at your local Chevrolet Dealerships parts department, or auto parts store. You must replace the entire assembly.
The trouble is probably in the fuel pump assembly, in the gas tank. The guage sending unit (foam on a stick) is part of the fuel pump assembly, which must be replaced as an entire unit. Search 'fuel pump replacement' on this site, I have a very detailed write-up from a couple years back. There are probably even better ones written since. You may want to check the electrical connector for corrosion (on top of the fuel tank) before buying an entire new fuel pump assembly.
It is called the front clip. The entire front assembly from the firewall forward is the front clip The nose with the grill and headlights is called the header panel.
Under the passenger side headlight assembly, you have to remove the entire assembly to get to it.
