pulley puller
The water pump on this model is located on the top of the engine to the side with the serpentine belt. Its pulley will be the one with the smooth wheel
Sounds like water pump needs replacing The main pulley is near the top of the engine. The water pump is toward the front of the engine. It is possible that water appears to be leaking from this pulley, but there is a manifold gasket right above it. Double check to find exactly where the water is exiting the engine block. My first hunch is a leaking gasket.
If you follow your cars lower radiator hose it runs right to the pump. It is located right behind the first pulley you see when you open the hood. Remove belt and bolts and there is your water pump.
2.2L Engine 1. Partially drain the engine coolant from the vehicle. 2. Remove the serpentine drive belt from the vehicle. 3. Loosen and position the alternator to one side. 4. Unbolt the water pump pulley, then remove the pulley. 5. Unbolt the water pump, then remove the pump and gasket. 6. Clean the gasket areas thoroughly.
The water pump pulley is the pulley right above the crank pulley (the big pulley in the bottom of the engine.) Right above the water pump pulley should be the alternator pulley, which drives the alternator. I'm guessing the water pump is behind the WP pulley. == == == ==
Pulley above the crankshaft pulley (lowest on engine)
Behind the Timing Belt at the front of the engine. The water pump pulley is the top central pulley on the engine. Removing the Timing Belt is required.
The water pump uses the timing belt to spin the pulley on it. The pulley than propels the coolant throughout the engine. This keeps the cars engine at a moderate temperature.
loose water pump pulley and overheating engine
It varies by engine.
On the front of the engine.
