Very little enforcement and regulation. EPA is a joke with confusing standards. The promote alternative fuels, but inhibit CNG conversions.
Converting a petrol vehicle to run on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) involves several steps. First, you need to install a CNG conversion kit, which includes components like the CNG cylinder, pressure regulators, and fuel injectors. The vehicle's engine must be calibrated to accommodate CNG, as it has different combustion properties compared to petrol. It's essential to have the conversion done by a certified professional to ensure safety and compliance with local regulations.
Just depends on age of the vehicle. EPA can certify some, but most conversion are not EPA certified. But the EPA will tell you that ONLY their kits can be used. I learned a lot from SkyCNG.
The prices for a CNG conversion kit vary greatly from vehicle to vehicle. For a quality conversion kit, on average, one can expect to pay somewhere around $5000.
You wont find a dealer to do it. Must be after market conversion.
unfortunately not yet. OR not one that is EPA or Carb certified yet which will cause you lots of problems if you install it and the Gov finds out. I have a 08 Tacoma and would love to convert it but can't yet. Best advice is pester your dealer. I believe if enough of us bother them about it they will offer it for sale, especially now that they are bringing back the CNG camry.
Not enough demand to justify the expense of installing them.
Yes, CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) conversions for vehicles like the Hyundai Sonata can be approved by the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in India, provided they meet the necessary safety and emission standards. Owners must ensure that the conversion is done through an authorized and certified workshop to obtain the required approval and registration. It's important to check local regulations, as they may vary by state.
A CNG car is an automobile that is powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). In the United States, the only CNG car that is currently manufactured and sold as a new vehicle is the Honda Civic GX, which has been in production for 12 years. Natural gas cars are much cleaner burning cars than either gasoline or diesel engines. These CNG engines will also last much longer than gasoline engines. It is possible to convert gasoline engines to run on CNG. Although the conversion is somewhat pricey, the savings in fuel costs can offset this expense within a couple of years or so.
CNG by itself is odorless. What gives CNG its smell is actually an additive.
CNG is cheaper. CNG gives more mileage. CNG is the best as it is eco frendily.
