What is the penalty for writing a check on an account that didn't exist?

I believe that it is a crime to write fraudulent checks from an account that does not exist. You will spend jail time for writing a check from a fake account which someone took in good faith.

i think if you don't owe taxes for 2007,but owe taxes on prior years you should still get a stimulus check as long as you are making monthly payments on what you owe.

Overdraft usually means that the bank paid something out for you on your account that came in that you didnt have the full amount for and instead of the transaction bouncing they covered it and they charged you a small fee from your savings to pay for the action they took. Now a bank draft is nothing more then a piece of paper conveying monies. So an overdraft will cost you money but less then a bounce and a bank draft can be a check someone wrote to you for deposit.

You pay the underlying assessment. If they already went to levy an account, you may even be past the time you can protest. If you ignore them long enough...THEY DO NOT go away! ------- In my case, I didnt. They took all the money out of 2 of my accounts. I contacted them and am working to file my back taxes. My CPA says after I do so, I will get a refund of the excess. A levy is a 1 time thing. They did it to my account and I have since put money back in the account and they dont automatically get it unless they happen to do another levy. And they probably wont because I am not running from them anymore ! LOL
