This question doesn't quite make sense. Liquid is a phase and so is gas. When passing from one to the other there is no intermediate phase in between. Changing from liquid to gas is a process, and that process has names. There seems to be a kind of unwritten custom that when it happens naturally, spontaneously, it is called evaporation. If somebody applies heat with the intention of producing a phase change it is called vaporisation.
evaporation
This phenomenon is called vaporization; vaporization occur at the boiling point of the liquid. The release of gas molecules from the surface of a liquid, at a temperature under the boiling point is called evaporation.
Melting point.
Liquid to solid is a phase change.
Metals can be solid or liquid. Through Melting Phase Transition, the solid metal will change its state from solid to liquid. Through Freezing Phase Transition, the liquid metal will change its state from liquid to solid.
Solids are the only phase of matter which have a fixed shape and volume.
Phase change. Liquid phase to gaseous phase (evaporation) Liquid phase to solid phase (solidification, freezing) Solid phase to gaseous phase (sublimation9 Etc...
Vaporization of an element or compound is a phase transition from the liquid or solid phase to gas phase
The melting phase changes are Solid~Liquid~Gas and the freezing phase changes are Gas~Liquid~Solid
Liquid to solid is a phase change.
The liquid to gas phase change is vaporizing; the reverse is condensing. The other phase changes are: - solid to liquid: melting - liquid to solid: freezing - solid to gas: sublimation - gas to solid: deposition
Phase changes requiring the addition of heat energy are the phase changes from solid to liquid, liquid to gas, and solid to gas. These phase changes are termed melting (solid to liquid), evaporation (liquid to gas), and sublimation (solid to gas).
The phase change from a solid to a liquid is called "melting."
This change of phase is called freezing.
That process is referred to as "melting".
Changes in state are called phase transitions. Each of the phase transitions has a technical name and many have common names. The change from solid to liquid is fusion (or melting). The change from liquid to solid is solidification (or freezing). The change from liquid to gas is vaporization (or boiling). The change from gas to liquid is condensation. The change from solid to gas is sublimation.
The melting phase changes are Solid~Liquid~Gas and the freezing phase changes are Gas~Liquid~Solid
Solid to liquid.
