How was Sequim Washington named?
Many will tell you that the indigenous people of the Olympic Peninsula named this city's location Sequim because it means "Quiet Waters." In fact there is a street named Quiet Waters Lane off Cays Road near an area known as Mains Farm. However the truth of the mater is the original name given to the first post office in 1879 was Seguin. This name was also applied to the community now known as Sequim. In 1907 due to a postal clerk reading error the name was changed to Sequim.
