For the sake of simplicity the discussion here will be of mendellian genetics.
The way an animal looks (phenotype) may only represent a portion of it's genotype since dominant traits mask the expression of recessive ones.
Behavior is not explained by genetics in many cases...the more complex the
organism the more likely behavioral nuance is affected by elements beyond
genetics.
It's called PHENOTYPE.
- termed [to be] it's Phenotype. An organism's phenotype is strictly, and usually unalterably, determined by it's Genotype.
The phenotype of an organism is the physical representation of certain genes (usually dominant genes, though codominance is also possible).
HETEROZYGOUS
It is the way of the Phenotype.
a phenotype is the physical characteristics of an organism based on its genotype.

mimicry
Absolutely everything that the genes in your mitochondria or chloroplasts (if you're a plant) don't control. In eukaryotes like us ALL your genes are on chromosomes, with the exceptions I mentioned.

All organisms look like the result (are an expression) of their genetic inheritance.

Phenotype.

the genotypeThe genotype (genes) of an organism determines its phenotype (what it looks and acts like). The phenotype can also be slightly influenced by the organism's environment. For example, if a human inherits genes to be taller than average, but has poor nutrition as a child, he won't be as tall as his genes had coded.
a phenotype is the physical characteristics of an organism based on its genotype.
it relates to the phenotype A phenotype is how the organism looks based on which genes are expressed. A genotype is how the organism is genetically structured, including recessive genes that are not apparent when looking at the organism. Some diseases, like colorblindness, are recessive and are only expressed when there is not a dominant gene to override it. The entire genetic makeup of an animal is its genome.
All I think you would need to know at this point is that the genotype is the genetic makeup or background of an organism and the phenotype is what the organism looks like physically. An easy way to remember this is that the genotype is the genes.
An organism with two like alleles for a trait is homozygous for that trait.
