Mountains are NOT a place where deposition (of sediments) are at a maximum. However they ARE a place where erosion (of sediments) is at a maximum. This is because mountains are steep and there is therefore allot of energy in the water flowing off mountains. This energy breaks down and removes the rocks from which the mountains are made.
A sandy place is called a desert
The river Styx is the passage to the underworld, but it is now called the Mavroneri (or "Black Water"), the Styx (Mavroneri) originates in the high mountains of Achaia, Greece. Its cold waters cascades over a limestone crag to form the second highest waterfall in Greece. It creates a poison in the calcium.

The water in the Sacramento River is fresh water. It originates from the snowmelt in the Sierra Nevada mountains and flows through various agricultural and urban areas before emptying into the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and eventually into the San Francisco Bay.
A low lying land between hills or mountains is called a valley
Underwater mountains that rise above the surface of the water are called islands. These formations are the result of volcanic activity or tectonic movements that cause them to breach the water's surface.
