The 1989 film Shocker, written and directed by Wes Craven is the story of a Los Angeles serial killer and the detective trying to catch him. The main suspect is a disabled tv repairman named Pinker. When the detective gets to close to him, he kills the detective's wife and biological son. However, the detective's adopted son had developed an almost psychic connection to the serial killer and leads his adopted father to the killer. After the killer is caught, he reveals that the detective's adopted son is actually the serial killer's biological son. He is also the cause of the killer's disability. The boy shot his biological father in an attempt to stop him from killing his mother.
