Bruno becomes friends with a Jewish boy and, after many conversations and events happened at the house, decides to climb under the fence that seperates his back garden and the camp to help search for his friend's father who has mysteriously disappeared. Bruno does not get noticed because he had to have his head shaved after a case of nits. Bruno gets killed in the showers by gas because he was thought to be a Jew. His mother and father move back to his old house because they are so upset.
