It was written or credited to one Helen Steiner Rice- a prolific- maybe TOO prolific ( may have been an authorship team) writer for Hallmark Cards. the poem was recorded in record form and did quite well- as did the somewhat similar spiritualistic ( religious themed) Monologue tract- Desiderata by Les Crane. They are two different records. The only spoken word or monologue singles ( talking in now obsolete 45 RPM terms) I can recall in my life were: One Solitary Life ( Helen Steiner Rice), Deck Of Cards ( attempts to harmonize religion and gambling!) , The Americans ( by a Canadian)- and the Desiderata mentioned earlier. there was a (Convention l968) by the Delegates but this did have snatches of musical songs ( a la Buchanan and Goodman) and was not, strictly speaking, a spoken word record. there you have it- Two religous, one semi-religious, and one political. All stop!
