It depends on the species. The main predators of swans are skunks, owls, bears, foxes, and coyotes. Western species such as the Mute Swan or Trumpeter Swan have few natural predators exept humans. Foxes, coyotes and gulls commonly take juveniles and eggs but adults are relatively safe.

The Black Swan, which is native to Australia, does not have any natural predators. Its only predators are introduced species such as foxes, dogs and cats.

Black swans do not have any natural predators.

Black swans are native to Australia, introduced to New Zealand and have some migratory paths to New Guinea, so their predators are other animals which have been introduced to that region of Oceania. These introduced predators include the European red fox, and domestic pets such as dogs and cats, especially those which have gone feral. Predators of cygnets (young swans) include Black rats, Silver gulls and Swamp Harriers.
