CO2 is a greenhouse gas which traps heat. Once earth's temperature rises another degree it will be warm enough to release methane gas trapped in arctic permafrost. Methane, CH4, is about 25 times more potent than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.
The long term forecast therefore is for warmer temperatures and more frequent and violent storms. Increased desertification in some areas, increased precipitation in others.
