That all depends on the species of the bear. For instance, polar bears prey on seals, walruses and whales. Black and grizzly bears prey on deer, young hooved animals like elk, caribou, moose, bison and domestic bovines, and will also go after the more weaker members of the herd much like wolves will. They also prey on fish, grubs, eat eggs from birds' nests, etc.

The brown bear and squrriel can have competition over nuts and berries and the such, but also the bear can be the predator and the squirrel be the prey.
