Are you taking niacin as a supplement, or are you taking peparations that contain niacin? You may be overdosing. Oddly, a typical sign of niacin overdose is the sensation of heat or burning in the face, and is called Niacin Flush. It can affect parts of the body other than the face. Either way, check what you are taking, and let your primary care physician know about the symptom. You may be overdoing other supplements without knowing it. Niacin Flush by itself isn't cause for alarm, but it can be very uncomfortable.
In secondary amenorrhea, the primary symptom is the ceasing of menstruation for at least three months.
Niacin and Coumadin (Warfarin) are compatible, but their use together should be monitored by your doctor. Niacin has minor anticoagulant effects and its use, even without Coumadin, requires doctor supervision if used to affect blood lipids. Niacin can have liver toxicity if taken in high amounts. This is especially true of extended-release or sustained-release niacin. Immediate-release niacin (regular niacin, without any delaying aspect) has the least liver problems associated with it.
Primary pellagra results when the diet is extremely deficient in niacin-rich foods.
